Can microscope slides be used as brewster windows / oc windows for UV-A lasers?
Concerning the nitrogen laser: yes!
You might want to watch the "Photography: What are filters good for?" video, too (for comparison).
For those of you who don't know: basically, 337nm are invisible, even with scotopic vision but some claim to see speckles on their brewster windows in a longitudinal setup (the pulse power is in the range of 10...100kW!). The blueish laser spot is caused by excitation of fluorescent pigments in the paper. The test tube contains diluted Fluorescein-Na.
