Simple automatic melon and pumpkin farm (No need for hoe) - Minecraft 1.1

Just messing around in creative mode, this is the simplest and most redstone efficient design I came up with for a pumpkin & melon farm.
It can also be extended as far as you want easily.

Replacing the block that the water travels along with ice you can speed up the rate that the items travel at.
