Buying slaves into freedom is not the answer. It merely creates a larger market for slaves and encourages slavers to enslave even more people. It is simple supply and demand. Buying slaves into freedom is adding to the demand of slaves, encouraging suppliers to increase supply. Sadly, good intentions are make the problem worse. We are freeing some people and by doing so forcing even large numbers into slavery. It may not be the same people again, but it is more people.
