I actually kinda liked the ending. To me it was like once he saw the painting he knew the only way to be free like those birds was to go back and deal with his problems. Not to mention nice music to go along with the scene. :]

@Missimagination261 Lyle had a moment where he understood what he would have to do. I think. He saw the picture and realized nothing will change unless he actually tries to change it. That was his thing to work for, to keep him going, freedom. Being truly free from his rage. He was leaving, but really, he wouldn't have gotten anywhere. So he went back to change things so that he really could. That's what I got from it anyway..
