@ModulateThis i'd be more worried about the Tornado. if you see the TIV heading north, you should be heading south.

whats more important when it comes down to a Tornado and the possible chance of it coming towards traffic...would you still follow the rules & law if a Tornado was chasing you in heavy Traffic? i think not...besides, the TIV was made to intercept Tornado's and help Sean Casey Film his Imax Movie....and in the process they can gather some data....Sean Casey's TIV wasn't made for playing "lets drive extremely slow and miss our chance to intercept this Tornado and waste my Imax Film Funds"...

@ashe021182 The problem is there was NO tornado at that time. TIV was just trying to cut ahead of the line to shoot more video for their commercial production. As for using sirens, leave that to government. Putting personal sirens on your vehicle is not only illegal but it's likely to confuse the public --who has no idea who you are and why you are driving around making all that noise. The siren on TIV was just a prop for the TV show. Good riddance Storm Chasers.

@wbuttry1 By pure chance it turned out to be no harm, no foul.

@kitty33256 What amateur chasers? There is no way you can't judge the traffic being nothing other than normal everyday traffic or traffic that may include local Skywarn volunteer if there was a severe WX in the area. You are calling them amateur to excuse 1 of your favorite TV programs & stars from being stupid. When their luck runs out hopefully this footage would help put them in prison murder for a long time

@ashe021182 Bullshit. I actually live IN KANSAS and when "sean" drives like that it puts me and my entire family at risk. I swear to god if i see "sean" driving like that on the road he's going back to hollywood on a stretcher. I'll go TIV hunting.

Those TIV people are douche bags (just the one dude who sounds like a female, everyone else is koo). I would have blocked the road and beat the holy shit out of him for doing that. He's going to get someone killed.

@kitty33256 Sean is as "amateur" as any chaser --no formal training and fancy vehicle. So what if TIV is "made for intercepting tornadoes". Does "special purpose" mean "special privileges"? No! The so-called "chaser wannabies" were all waiting their turn for a four-way stop ahead. So who's more likely to get someone killed, chasers obeying traffic laws or a guy in the speeding tank driving down the wrong side of the highway? How folks fail to see this truth is beyond me.
agreed that they may have done wrong but when it comes down to finding the tornado before it gets to you and tears your house down or gets your family the rules get broken tornadoes do not sit in one spot for long time they move and destroy your thing is you can do is let it go .If you didn't have skywarn or the others chasers imagine what would happen many thousands would die because they didn't get warned in time any time were out their we are there to save your life from harm or death .

@alcors22 Even if TIV were part of SKYWARN that kind of dangerous maneuver would not be acceptable. At the time I shot my video there was no tornado, no sirens, no immediate danger. The storm had cycled down and moved well north and east and 300 chasers were all trying to play catch-up. Its one thing for a family to do something dangerous in an attempt to escape a tornado. It's totally another thing for a chaser to risk other people's lives to catch a tornado just to make a film..

Storm Chasers is a great show. Sean in the TIV do need to be careful when driving but I would have done the same thing. Other drivers with little or no experience, in cars and SUVs, driving towards a tornado are just insane and very irresponsible. They put themselves, others and the emergency services at risk.... and they take their wives and kids with them! WTF! They should stay safe and at home and leave the roads open for emergency services and TIV!

@Nigol66 The good news is that Storm Chasers has been cancelled. Hopefully this will be the beginning of the end of the thrill-seeking, trash sport, storm chasing has become. I long for the days when chasing was about enjoying nature and making scientific discoveries --as opposed to the commercialization and competition driven by reality TV.
