So I see a lot of shit talking here... The Clash are and were my favorite band, Joe is a saint and lost poet RIP. Lilly is not a horrible artist but she does not compare to Joe's work... But in defense of her and this cover I have to say it is a great attempt. And in my opinion (which it is) this cover has its own fell and stands on its own. To the fanboys bashing this .... move along. To people who have ears that really function and appreciate all kinds of music play it one more time.

At the start I had my doubts with the "fairytale" like intro, I was thinking "Oh no, another failed cover of The Clash". But this actually works! Hats off to Lily because The Clash is one of the hardest bands to cover in my opinion because their songs were so much a part of them...
Also does anyone know if that is actually Mick Jones on backing vocals?

So some of you claim to be huge Clash fans, yet you only bother to write s**t about this version. Mick and Lily did this song as charity for Warchild. Joe would have supported this. So does Mick, since he co-operated. A REAL Clash fan would not talk s**t, and show respect to Mick's beliefs and projects. Even if they're not your thing.

this is a very nice cover. in case somebody doesn't know, joe strummer was a good friend of lily allen's parents, and her godfather too. so it's very touching she made a cover like this, even tough joe surely went straight to heaven.

Don't mind the agressive way they talk to you. The members of The Clash would NOT like that! MIA did indeed sample the intro of the original Clash song. Go check out The Clash, and be amazed of everything these guys did. The were not just a punkband...

@kodinshanice MIA sampled the beat from The Clash's 1980's Straight To Hell.

I'm sorry, no offense to Mick but this sucks compared to the original. It's lost its feel completely, no more Clash covers Lily

4:57 is that Mick's daugther?

@kodinshanice ... no! mia's paper planes nicked the tune from the clash's straight to hell originally out in 1982, (wow shocked ?) this is a cover (for charity) of the clash's straight to hell, get a life, and if your a little kid i suggest you look up on the internet what's been nicked from who for the last 10 yrs, you will be shocked, there's not many artists can write their own tunes these days so they nick other peoples tunes .... fact
