This is a video of a shimmy on my 2009 1800 Goldwing. If you want to check your wing out take it up to 100km (60mph) an hour. Then let of the gas and take your left hand off the handlebar. On mine it starts into the shimmy at 80 kms and by the time to hit 60 km, as you can see from the video your better hang on tight.

I would be interested in hearing if anyone else is having this problem.

  • The Wing has been repaired. Installed tapered bearings and the shimmy is gone.

  • A lot of them do that, usually between 35 & 45 mph. And they will also do it at a multiple of those speeds. CHECK THOSE STEM HEAD BEARINGS!!! Most are too loose and need adjusting. It is a critical adjustment.

  • @gregboyds At least they are reliable!

  • @gregboyds STFU

  • 2012 models were changed to fix this issue.

  • Yes either the bearings or the front tire has cupped

  • get the taperd bearings... this will help

and they make a wheel balancer that has a material in a ring that self balances the wheels, i herard of people getting double the life on tires with this piece.

    could try a superbrace..

just go to any gwrra show in any state , to get this stuff. i work on the wings for a living..

  • front tyre is worn out or carrying to much weight in topbox
