5:41 DO NOT let the lady see this cushy pad, haha. She has a sly technique for reducing pack weight while streamlining for ultralight--she makes ME carry it, lol!

@upupaepops I guess when comparing weights between closed cell foam pads and air pads, people tend to forget to figure in the repair kit weight (and your method of detection). Because no matter how durable these things are, you just never know when they're going to go flat on you, and in my experience, without even knowing why.

Nice video. I appreciate you pulling them out and inflating them.

I still use that one when tent camping (with a truck !) It's like being on a mattress at home.

7:11 One vote for a leaking Thermarest 3/4 pad--took 20 years to get there though, haha! Went from Damascus, VA to Katahdin without another, last year.

@BrokenAeroVT I'll second that. I've been brutal with my Thermarests (excluding the NeoAir, still somewhat cautious with a full air mattress), and I've never had one leak. Either from a puncture or a failed valve.

but which 1 actually works better for you

@mrfireclaw I'm absolutely loving the Thermarest Neoair. It packs super small, is super light, and is super comfortable. If you want to save $30 bucks or so, you can now get the newer Neoair Trekker. It's got a somewhat more durable outer shell than the original Neoair, but doesn't have the reflective coating inside. The Trekker has an R value of 2.0 versus the original NeoAir 2.5, so not as warm. And the Trekker is heavier, at about 1lb 10oz versus the 14oz original.

Can you please tell me where I can find that cammo sleeping pad you displayed in your video? Or perhaps you can sell it to me since you do not use it anymore?
-Thanks

@frosty4700 It came from Sportsmansguide, but they don't have it any more. They're pretty hard to find, but if you google "sleeping pad with pillow" you will run into a few now and then, mostly on eBay. I don't use it for backpacking, but it's a great pad for the kids at sleepovers, tent camping, etc.
