Based on a true story. As a young boy, Eddie Araujo always felt different somehow. She started putting on her mom's makeup and wearing her mom's clothes, which her mom found odd. By the time she entered her teen years, Eddie could no longer hide the fact that she was a lot different, that she was meant to be female and not male. When she finally accepted it and with her mom's eventual support, Eddie changed her name to Gwen and started to live life as female until a tragic night changed everything.

In this movie, Gwen Araujo was born Eddie Araujo. But as she got older she started seeing that she was more of a female then a male. So she changed her name to Gwen when she was in high school and she was no longer a male. When she was 17 years old she was killed by 3 teenage boys after they discovered she was a male. They beat her for 5 hours before tying her up and throwing her in a grave. Two of the boys were convicted of second-degree murder, and one boy plead out to manslaughter. The judge and jury did not see this as a hate crime and none of the boys were convicted of one.

@DruoxTheShredder and by goilfriend I mean boyfriend. I'm having a similar argument at the same time over another transgender. I just am trying to get this whole violent, defensive, and almost fanatical crap people are hiding behind out of this. We don't need more death, we need more tolerance and knowledge on stuff like this. S'all I am out to achieve =/

@Michimouchiha ...like her, then she could've easily told her girlfriend and her family, and they could've all been fine with it. However, it's because of the ignorance...and the fear and hatred that comes from ignorance that He was beaten,and died from it. The removal of ignorance can prevent situations like that, because people wouldn't have anything to hide behind when they did/do terrible things.

@Michimouchiha The point seems to have eluded you, I'll restate it more plainly: The reason She wasn't open is because of the lack of tolerance, and if She could have been open, this catastrophe could have easily been averted. No where did I mention that murdering her was okay, so please don't put words in my mouth, thanks. I don't blame Gwen, and I never did, no matter how much you want me to. But, people understood what I meant.

Yeah, tolerance is needed, but you don't need to go murder someone.

no matter how you word it, no matter how you somewhat "blame" Gwen for not actually being open about her biological gender, it was not her fault. It's not something that is needed to know to start a happy conversation; she doesn't need to tell everyone she meets that shes not biologically a female. js.

@bonjovigirl2011 When we're in our spirit form we choose to change gender , cause we're curious about the other gender. But the present life sometimes get carried other to the new life.Also we might can't decide and choose both genders. It may sound crazy , but it better then saying god made u special crap

well i think we get recarenatied and er sometimes carry the other life over to the present life we live. Like human as we are we're never satisifed when we get what we want .So when a spirit like to try different gender from their old life female/male soul get carry over a different body. It make sense then just saying god made u special crape.

I would never have a problem with Gwen as a human being, but I believe that people like Gwen need to be able to be open about their biological gender. Instead of threatening people, which is just as bad as these monsters who murdered Gwen's tactics, FYI. Tolerance is needed. If we keep denying it, it only makes it harder..
