I miss television variety shows and I miss Lana. She not only could sing, but she could dance too. She puts those oafs on Dancing with the Stars to shame.
RCA marketed here as a Streisand type (as ABC marked Marilyn Michaels and so on) at first. But the public quickly discovered she had her own special qualities and she sold a lot of records. I saw her in St. Louis at the 12,000 seat Muny Theater doing "The Wizard of Oz," into which one of her big songs, "When You WIsh Upon A Star" got interpolated using her night club arrangement! She was Dorothy!
Just wondering -- are you sure Kiki Dee wrote this song? I've never heard her sing it. Vikki Carr released a version in 1967, and the songwriter is listed as "Ray Jessel."

The song is composed by RAYMOND JESSEL. Reference: Lana Cantrell's commercial recording of the song, RCA Victor 47-9205 (Side B).
