El Paso police arm against the populace, purchase 1100 M-4 AR-15 rifles

As if they are expecting some great upheaval, the El Paso Police are purchasing 1100+ M-4 rifles, at $800,000 paid for by FEDERAL GRANT (big surprise)! Now that's some stimulus! The semi-automatic AR-15's, which of course can be easily modified to full auto, are to ostensibly protect the city in the case of spillover from the Mexican drug wars. But clearly, that federal funding is not being put into sealing off the border, as Obama has recently announced cuts for the border patrol.

No, it seems clear that the government is arming up the "authorities" to deal with the millions of patriotic gunowners and returning vets who live in Texas, who may be concerned with the economic collapse and the fascist government takeover. Could gun confiscation be in the cards? Let's hope not.

Exaggeration much? They're not going to pull these on a law abiding citizen for no reason. But I guess that's a standard anti-police sentiment. I have no problem with having these weapons, it's not like criminals are running around carrying small handguns either. Even small departments nowhere near the border are equipping squad cars with AR-15's, I have no problem with it.
