Join Breakthrough for the fifth annual Tri Continental Film!
The Tri Continental Film Festival (TCFF) is an annual event in the global south that promotes human rights and democratic principles through documentary and short feature-length films. After opening in Delhi on January 15th at the India Habitat Centre, the festival will travel to Mumbai, Goa, Bangalore and Kolkata.
Each year the festival foregrounds highly topical and sometimes controversial human rights issues and this year is no different. The diverse batch of films this year highlight the political and personal triumphs and struggles by womens groups (Pray the Devil Back to Hell, The Sari Soldiers, and There Was a Queen), the personal impacts and struggle of immigrants in the U.S. and Europe (The American, The Infinite Border, and Paradise) and the desperate and inhumane conditions of modern-day slavery (Ironeaters and Bound by Slavery); these are just a few examples of films from TCFF 2009.
