Rozanji, a temple to the east of the Imperial Palace (Gosho) in Kyoto hosts an annual setsubun Oni Odori (Devil Dance) festival on February 3 each year. The festival, which draws a large crowd, begins with a purification rite performed by a man dressed as a devil and continues with the dance of three devils. This is followed by a priest shooting sacred arrows to the four directions and then sweets (beans) thrown to the crowd. The festival concludes with the ritual burning of amulets from the previous year. http://www.japanvisitor.com/index.php?cID=431&pID=1876
