This is me using my new warping mill for the first time. The mill is hand-made, and I bought it second-hand online (marktplaats.nl). The video shows me winding the threads onto the mill, and creating the two important crosses at the top and bottom of the warp that help to keep the threads in order when transferring the warp onto the loom later.

The yarn I'm using is two strands of 2/20 cashmere (purchased from colourmart.com). The warp length is 11 metres, and I am going to use it to weave a set of four scarves for me and three friends of mine.

  • Thank you so much for showing this. My mill doesn't have the cross piece. I paused your video and looked at where and how yours was set up, then went in my tool room and made one...pegs and all! I don't have any wingnuts at the moment, so I've used clamps to hold the two boards together at the ends! I'm so glad you have this on here! Bless you!
