Man I love this camera!
Who needs a nikon when you can do the job just as good with this a700 which is 2/3rds of the price?
By the way; the Sony 11-18 ulrta wide is an awesome lens, a must-have for the versitile photographer.

im not sure which cam i should buy... either the alpha 700 or canon eos 500d..

the only reason i am considering this camera is beacuse even the cheaper lens's feel very well made

@asdFRap No. This camera is old now and discontinued. The new version, the A77, does record HD video

I found this review very informative and thank you for posting it. I have been all over the place deciding what camera to buy the 40D, D300 or the Alfa 700. After watching yuor reviews on all three cameras i have decided to go with the D300 mainly down to 1)live view mode 2)the 51 point focus 3)the 12Mp 4)HDMI out need i go on. I can't take anything away from the other two and think that it is down to the user to decide what is best for them! enjoy it what ever you get :)

Good choice. We did a group test of the D300, Alpha 700 and Olympus E3 recently (the Canon 40D is not in the same price bracket) and the D300 comfortably won, though they're all excellent and have their own special qualities.
