Erie fire officials said the Victorian Princess suffered significant damage when it caught fire on May 9. Officials said a maintenance worker was performing work on the boat, which was out of the water and on blocks, when the engine and engine room caught fire at about 8:40 a.m. There was fire damage to the lower portion of the boat, and heat and smoke damage to other portions, officials said. Multiple fire crews were at the scene, 22 Ore Dock Road. Initial dispatch reports warned firefighters that the ship had several full fuel tanks.
