I have been cleaning dryer vents for the last three years. Yes it is vital to have the inside of the dryer cleaned as well as a thorough cleaning of the vent. Our service includes both. Cincinnati Maintenance Inc. Note to post from hgyudu: Clean the dryer vent each time.

If you have a dirty clogged dryer vent, you will also have lint build up in your dryer and the fires usually start in the dryer not in the dryer vent. Most vent cleaning companys do not disassembled the dryer and clean the lint build up out of the dryer , they only run a brush and vacuum down the filter housing. If you really want a good job, you are better off hiring a Appliance repair person who can take the dryer apart and clean it and the vent so you have a complete job.
