(And directed, and produced, and edited......) The animation itself was created in Japan and Korea (just as the animation for The Simpsons is created in Korea), however, the G1 cartoon's original language was English, and it was dubbed for the Japanese market. After season 3, they took different directions, with Rebirth going one way in the US and HM/MF/V going another in Japan.
However, the first time the first Transformers cartoon ever aired was in 1984, in English.
@DangerousD6969 Nope, incorrect. The toys were released in Japan under Takara's Diaclone and Microchange lines. However, it was not until 1984 that Hasbro (with Marvel and Sunbow) turned them from non-sentient, piloted drones into The Transformers. Takara continued selling them as Diaclone and MIcrochange for a while, but switched to the new Transformers franchise.
The G1 cartoon was developed in the US. Notice how all the episodes are written by people with English-language names?
The G1 series, it was out in Japan back in 82 before it was aired int he US in 84, the rebirth 3 part series wasn't aired in Japan, they already had the headmaster series going march of 87, where as we got this one in september of the same year
