Battle of Brentford

On the morning of 12 November 1642 , taking advantage of a thick mist,
Prince Rupert advanced with four regiments of horse along
the Great West Road. Rupert intended to take the Parliamentarians
by surprise but the tables were turned when the redcoats of Holles's regiment,
who had fortified Sir Richard Wynn's house on the outskirts of Brentford,
opened fire on the advancing Royalists. Rupert's cavalry fell back
