Totally changed the base and the shafts. Fiberglass base amplifies the motor noise and sorta sounds like they are screaming (gets very annoying after a minute). Added an SRF05 (ultrasonic range finder module, the thing that swings in the front) to the front, now it constantly measures forward distance, and if it's less than 20cms, it scans the area to find the most appropriate direction comparing 3 out of 20 scan values (I'll increase that soon). Whistle now only starts or stops the motors, and the cam is stabilized. Gonna have to work on some wheel encoding and dead reckoning stuff to make it a little bit smarter.
Added a laser to the "head," and it doesn't stop anymore for the scanning, it does it on the move. I'm rebuilding the cards (the two top narrow cards will be one wide card like the motor control card at the bottom), for the old ones have too much repairing on them (short circuits thanks to careless use), and I don't think I'll need the whistle thingy anymore (it's smarter now, but still not aware of obstacles too high or too low for the sonar). Fried the sonar servo last night (and replaced it with a better, quieter one I had - Futaba S3003) when it got stuck under my bed, so I need another sensor for the blind spots. New video will be posted soon...
Thanks a lot :) Sure, we can share project documents, it's in Hitech C, but I bet you can easily convert it to CCS C ;) Happy new year to you, too :D
