I use night crawlers with a small to med size hooks. I use a 3oz weight thats pyramid shaped on the btm. I use 2 hooks12 inches apart. let me know if that works for you.

@fuckfalloutboy You can use night crawlers to anchovies. Heck a bunch of guys use lures and do really well on strippers. I have been approached by many fish and game officers and fishing is legal here as long as you have a fish lic. Some places post no trespassing and is posted no fishing, but it you can tell with locked gates with barb wire fences. Some though have bicycle access openings too. Ranger said yes can go thru to fish or ride. The signs are well posted where not to go Fish on friends

This is not a sewer canal. It starts at the Delta in Northern California Bay. Its my understanding that thru the valley going south farmers use this water source to water their crops. It connects to San Luis Dam and continues south.

I am curious if anyone gone out there and tried this and what results.

Sorry i didn't answer your questions, the gates are normally always open. sometimes their really open and the water is crazy. along hwy 5 theres 2 canals. California and the Mendota. California is very deep and sometimes dangerious, but huge strippers. But like Sacramento canal by hwy 50 heading south is very slow moving. almost crawling. Theres monster blue gill, crappie and catfish.
