This is an 8 mm film shot by my brother for a high school film class.
Obtaining a press pass from the Seattle Totems Hockey Club of the old
professional Western Hockey League, he followed the play of goaltender
Bruce Bullock as he and the rest of the Totems faced their archrivals,
the Portland Buckaroos. If memory serves correctly, this was Bullock's
first shutout in the professional ranks. The film also includes an
interview with Bullock. Unfortunately, the audio portion of that
interview is long gone. The broadcaster at the beginning of the film
was the voice of the Totems at that time, Joe Daggett. The game
audio was obtained by hanging a microphone of a hand-held cassette
recorder from the gondola at the Seattle Center Coliseum. The music
used comes from the soundtrack of the 1971 motorcycle racing
documentary, "On Any Sunday". Hope you enjoy it.

  • I we ever get an nhl team I hope they are called the totems and they wear the green jerseys!

  • @lucysnow1851 me too! :-D

  • Oh yeah. Thanks. I must've had the sound down and didn't hear that intro by PA Announcer Dave Tolls!!! That's a voice from the past. Just to show you how much thing have changed, I was in high school in the late 70s and called the Sonics and they gave me a press pass so I could sit on the floor and take pictures. Oh those were the days when sports wasn't so full of itself.

  • @krametorg I always wondered who was the PA announcer! Dave Tolls! Thanks for that. He had such a distinctive voice, but I don't think they ever listed his name in the programs. Your story about the Sonics in the 70's is exactly what my brother did with the Totems. He wanted to make this film, so he contacted the club and they set him up with a press pass. You're so right about sports being full of itself these days...

  • I remember Bruce Bullock. I used to go games as a kid. Would love to know who they're playing and who some of the players are in the footage. I remember Carol Vadnais coming as a minor leaguer. I wonder what others are here. Great film. Thanks for sharing!

  • @krametorg They are playing the Portland Buckaroos in this film. Art Jones, Connie Madigan, Mike Donaldson, Dave Kelly were just some of the players on Portland. Thanks for commenting!
