Thank you for posting this! This is one of my fav movies. I totally connected with Buddhism when I saw it in 2000. I credit that connection with helping me turn my life around at that point. Wonderful film, wonderful life. Peace and happiness to all beings.

Someone posted: "People forgot what music is." It is true. Everyone should read and consider that comment.

I didn't like Sakamoto at first, but I have heard some of his work which I like a lot. I think he is an authentic artist, who respects and makes good application of his roots, generally.

But: music generally is going bankrupt worldwide. The Music Biz, any more, detests originality. Everything is Ameri-Disney-fied, wth a drum-machine beat--Profit has marginalized talent, now.

J'aime beaucoup ce film, profondément, malgré ses défauts. Je ne connaissais que le version Française et je dois bien l'avouer : pour une fois, la VF est plus poignante (sans doute parce que je n'ai pas vu ce film entièrement en anglais, ne m'habituant donc pas au phrasé des acteurs). Cette remarque n'enlève en rien la qualité du film bien évidemment !

I like it too... I have a feeling that the Heart Sutra is not just for chanting, but most improtantly, for knowing the meaning and practicing in our lives.

@L00king. I agree... I also had one.

I decided I was Buddhist before I saw this film for the first time, but I saw the film soon after. When I saw this film I fell in love with it, this scene in particular. It is so powerful, I know this film is inaccurate in places, but it completely sold me and dispelled any doubts I had as to whether Buddhism was the right religion for me or not.

In fact I fully intend to learn the Heart Sutra as best as I can in the future. It's brilliant!
