Supermarine were already owned by Vickers-Armstrong by the start of the war and all aircraft were named as Vickers Supermarine, so you're both right, sort of.

In my opinion the Hawker Hurricane did most of the dirty work in the allied victory in europe in WW2. The spitfire got most of the glory, but still was an important part of history.

My uncle was a fighter pilot for the RAF and shot down 2 German aircrafts unfortunitly it was in 1968 he was court marshalled.
