  • Hi Todd,

I have a problem with Shifting down and somehow I feel that this problem is not addressed as often as the problem of shifting up. For e.g both the shifting videos talked about shifts that were made when one is moving up the scale. I would really appreciate if you could put up a small video on how to shift down a scale i.e let us say from a high 5th position to a 3rd position.

    Thanks a lot once again.

  • Hi dhrupadfan, I finally got around to it. Thanks for the reminder!

  • @OCuddlesO -1 means you play that note one the first finger. Also that V symbol are you referring to an up bow?

  • Hi. I'm rather confused about the bow and which way you should hold it. I know it should be at like 45 degrees to the strings but sometimes I see ppl play with it facing one way and other times another. I imagine your bowing technique vids go into that so I guess I should check those out :)

  • I stumbled across this video, and just thought that I should add that you are a very good teacher. Your videos are always easy to comprehend (unlike other violin lesson videos on youtube). Thank you so much for posting.

  • thanks for using the soccer analogy sir!!

it really helps since im into soccer as well as the violin!! :)

    best regards

  • HI Todd,

Have you compiled all your lessons in a DVD and do you sell them somewhere? I'm not sure what youtube thinks about selling stuff but I'd love to get my hooks on one. Thanks,

    Chris

  • Yes, I've seen that done as well. Thanks for sharing it! I hear Hurwitz was great. You are lucky to have worked with him!

  • I suppose that's fine for slow passages, but as you pointed out, it's probably better to retain the hand shape in faster ones.

Anyhow, I look forward to watching some more of your tutorials. All the best, Neil
