Each his own, But I'd just some gloves.. Used engine oil is full of nasty stuff like engine metals, PAH's antifreeze, gas and other particles that cause cancer. Since it's an oil, it happily travels trough your skin into the blood stream. :(
Also, I always use a small bit of fresh oil to flush the last bit of black sludge out, just to get nice clean oil all around.
