A Harvest Moon Valentine's Day Tribute.wmv

It seems appropriate to celebrate St. Valentine's Day with a Tribute to Harvest Moon. Although the romantic aspects of any Harvest Moon game may not rank as high as farming in terms of survival, they sometimes prove to be a greater motivation where players are concerned. Valentine's Day is celebrated in most Harvest Moon games, although it goes by different names. As the Spring Thanksgiving Festival or the Spring Harmony Day, it is the Day on which Boys give gives to Girls. In Winter, there is a reciprocal Winter Thanksgiving Festival or Winter Harmony Day often that is an occasion for Girls to give Gifts to Boys. In a few games, there is a single Day when you are encouraged to give Cakes to every one as a gesture of Friendship and Gratitude. Whatever the name and whatever the rules, these Festivals are immensely popular. I have compiled some 'memories' of past Spring and Winter Thanksgivings as well as Harmony Day Festivals from various Harvest Moon games, past and present. The video begins with the Spring Thanksgiving Festival in Sunshine Islands, but continues with screenshots from HM Cute DS, Harvest Moon Boy & Girl, Island of Happpiness, Tree of Tranquility and Animal Parade. It is not intended to be a tutorial but rather a gesture to my fellow Harvest Moon fans on Valentine's Day and a Tribute to one of my favourite series. Thanks for your support! You know, they really aren't doing themselves a favour here. 3/4 of the video uses Harvest Moon tracks... I added a song by Francoise Hardy AND credited the artist. If Sony allowed the track, they would introduce NEW fans to this wonderful French artist... but instead, they mute the video.

Actually, YouTube has a new option called 'Media Swap' where you can choose from a list of audio tracks, presumably none of which are owned by Sony... I chose the Pastoral Symphony as a replacement.

I think the price I had to pay for the 'Media Swap' is that YouTube can load random adverts on the page with my video. Hate that, but I don't have the time to mess with the video. The software (Windows Movie Maker) is SO slow. It takes me hours to make a simple little video.

Well, you know I primarily am a Guide Writer not a filmmaker. I guess you have experienced some of the same frustration as I with WMM. It is absolutely HORRIBLE but it is all I have. I sometimes tell myself I'll never make another video, but then something inspires me again. Still, I didn't expect to spend my entire Valentine's Day struggling with the stupid programme. It was kind of nice to relive all those wonderful HM moments though.

I would edit my old videos more if WMM were easier.
