My suggestions is a change of wording from MYD is an example of the model to MYD is an ongoing attempt/experiment to implement this model. These few words give justice to the fact that implementing theories is challenging and needs stages of development.

Of course. This is Khadigah, by the way. Keep in mind that you haven't been involved with MYD for a year more or less and a lot has changed. I don't want to detract from the video though by having this ongoing discussion so hit me up elsewhere inshaAllah.

Salaams, under the mentorship that Khadigah and I were under, this model is how we were trained, alhamdulillah. InshaAllah, it's how we plan to train the next generation of members. That's my two cents.

I don't agree but do you want to listen and take criticism?
-
Salaam,
That is how we run things Ayman, an FYI.

Not a hater, that's constructive :)

Great Job..i'm so happy you guys but this on the web......now i can show people who cool you guys are and i'm not just crazy when i talk about school reform....lol
Mashallah excellent job. I really appreciate the multi-layered approach. However, the last piece of it seems like it's really difficult to implement on a large scale, and would ultimately have the same issue as you mentioned in the beginning: it'd probably rely on a super-individual to run and once she/he leaves, it falls apart. Could the more philosophical approach of teaching the importance of education as a way to personal and societal reform replace that? Or is that too soft?

JazakAllah! This is why the first two elements are critical--to treat students as leaders who are given the skills to identify and act on issues they find problematic. Why I believe this framework leads to self-sustaining reform is that it takes one person at the beginning to ACTIVATE the latent capital in the community, but then there's no stopping that sort of organic momentum. That's how I see it. Feel free to challenge :-)
