@Antom1234 The same analogy applies to people who complain that Thomas Pridgen overplays.

@Antom1234 I don't wholeheartedly agree with anyone who says that he's a bad singer live. Certainly I've seen him produce some poor performances but most of the time he's decent (he's no better than that and I'd argue that anyone who thinks otherwise isn't listening properly).
What I don't understand is your metaphor. It doesn't make any sense. Are you suggesting that people who go to see The Mars Volta should expect him to perform badly? Some elaboration, please.

@equintanilla2010 True, but that rawness gave his voice way more feel.
He has started taking singing lessons and vocal warm-ups and warm downs now, though. His voice can only get better. His voice is pretty developed he just needs more control over it. Pretty soon he'll be much more accurate live He's already proven to have gotten better with the new live performances. However, I heard he doesn't practice when he's not touring or recording. Hopefully, he starts taking his voice more serious.

@BigTymerPimp if only he had taken care of his voice from the beginning xD

@Antipopped hey did you hear about this new thing called subjectivity? Make a long story short, it turns out that people have different perspectives and tastes, and that objectivity is exceedingly rare (especially when it comes to music.)

Agreed, also, I was there...his voice was amazing that day, check out Goliath from the same show...he almost never attempts the high screams live, he not only attempted, but hit them both that day...Id like to see the haters argue that one,and attempt it!!

Juan Aldarete carajo!!
People who complain that Cedric is bad live don't make any sense to me. It's like complaining that a Lamborghini guzzles gas.

Cedric's singing is amazing, I think it compliments the catastrophic instrumentals that Omar breaks into. Cedric has his good days and his bad days, nothing else to it.
He has also had problems with his voice for a while now, I noticed that sometimes when they cancel shows it's because of Cedric's voice.
And, for a man who has never had lessons and I'm pretty sure doesn't do vocal warm-up exercises before shows, he sings like angel.
