YOU NEVER MAKE A KNOT IN EMBROIDERY, !!!!!!!!! You catch the thread up with the stitches!

Thanks for your response, the method you refer to is ideal for working doilies or handkerchiefs where your work is visible from the back. When this is not an issue, it is perfectly fine to use a knot.

Could have been more helpful...you seem to think that people who don't have enough common sense to know how to make a knot, unscrew the hoop, or thread from the back will magically know what a slip stitch or a back stitch is. I appreciate the video, but perhaps a review of basic stitches?

Thank you so much for this video! Unfortunately us "Internet Generation" children don't have our mothers teaching us these wonderful skills. My mother can't even sew! I found this video very helpful :)

True! I taught my mother how to knit and use a hand loom, and I recently taught myself to crochet, and I'm a teen male! I find it fun and interesting. My grandmothers did that sort of stuff, but they never got to teach me. It makes me feel closer to the spirits of my grandparents and gives me a skill I might be able to share with friends and family one day!
