  • I love Archie! He's adorable. I wish he didn't meet the end he does! He wasn't really even in the books, and he wasn't epileptic or anything

  • @TheNikzaw Indefatigable was the ship of the first movies. This ship at the 1 minute mark is a two decker ship of the line, which I found out later to be most probably the replica ship Götheborg, with a painted lower gundeck . It is the largest wooden replica ship that fits the description of a 74 gun ship of a line, also a far more accurate replica than the Grand Turk, which has unfortunately serious anachronistic mistakes and was really the weak point and an eyesore in the first movies...

  • You could become a sailor when your at the age of 12? Wow

  • I know that large scale models were used to make the Hornblower series and the Grand Turk was built. BUT what ship did they use for such scenes as Horatio climbing up the Starboard Gangway in the start. and also in later scenes on board H.M.S Renown??? it cant be H.M.S Rose (aka: H.M.S Surprise) or H.M.S Victory so what ship did they use for on board filming? o.o

  • @murphjy To find an interest in this kind of series, one must be at least keen at history, if not a historian in his own right. Sitcoms don't require any kind of study...

  • this has to be the best produced TV series ever!! I wish they would do more of them!!..instead of cranking out those stupid sitcoms and reality shows!

  • This particular scene of Hornblower's lack of "sea legs" links the character with Horatio Nelson Britain's greatest Sea Commander, who surprisingly suffered sea sickness all his sea faring life!

  • There is a story going around that during filming Iaon got an ear infection when he did a scene in the sea and he is now partially deaf in one ear.

  • The start is so epic...

  • @Unwardil: He DOES fight the French a lot. But as he says in 'Sharpe's Rifles', "I have never liked that toast Major, I am a solider, not an assasain".
