@timothym87 That's very nearly right. The Holy Orthodox Church will ordain married men to the priesthood, but if a single man is ordained a priest, he cannot get married thereafter. He must remain single. And if a married priest's wife passes away, he must remain single and cannot get remarried.

What modernity has done, (and purposely so) was to leave our Western women without little spiritual reference. In light of today's 'constant consumerism' more and more women have based their identity on 'The Modern System', which itself is an illusion to nowhere.
As a result: modern women come not to know themselves more naturally and spiritually due to the power of utter materialism as if such is the sole pursuit for its own sake.

Love it! The middle eastern version of my faith. So clear to me about Confession!
Bless us all!
Actually, the Orthodox Church is the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church and nowhere in Holy Scripture, the writings of the holy fathers or our holy tradition does it say that priests must remain single. Our priests have been married since the Church started on the Day of Pentecost. Update your wrong information please.

@3DIFIER Why should their priest remain single? Did you know that there are Eastern Catholic priests who follow the same belief of married priesthood. Did you know that celibate priesthood was not a practice of the early church. I think that both of our churches need some reconciliation and changing before we can talk about being together again. I dream of the day when Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and Oriental Orthodox Christians will be in communion with each other again, but we must pray.
