Raast Welfare Society's - Raast School

Raast Welfare Society is a social welfare organization dedicated to the cause of education. It is run by a team of focused individuals who are working to improve the lot of the needy. The society was founded by a group of like-minded people more than a decade ago to provide inexpensive but quality education to children hailing from very humble backgrounds. It commenced its mission b setting up one room schools in jhuggis in various localities of Karachi where free elementary education was provided to children.

The Raast School provides teaching facilities to 300 children from Nursery to Matric. It has been registered and recognized by the Sindh Education Board up to Matric level.

A second school building has been constructed adjacent to the existing one.

School Facilities
The Raast School continually endeavors to maintain good educational standards, improve teaching methods and assist the community.

A new school building has labs for Physics, Chemistry and Biology. It also has a Computer room and a stitching center and offers much better library facilities. An adjacent open compound serves as a playground for the students.

* Students are provided with uniforms, shoes, textbooks, stationary and medicines.

* Free milk is provided three times a week to students and staff members.

* Teachers' training is provided on 6 monthly basis of Behbud Teachers' Resource Center.

* Computer literacy is compulsory for all students and staff.

* To help mothers and girl students towards income generation, the school offers training in machine embroidery, sewing, fabric painting and stitching.

* The school plans to sponsor deserving students for vocational training at professional institutions.
The School holds regular sessions on "Female Healthcare".

* A major achievement of the Raast School is to involve and motivate mothers to participate in the affairs of the school.

* The Society's accounts are audited regularly every year and all donations are exempted from income tax.

* The School organizes coaching in community services for external students.
