man this is fucking bullshit!
this will only harm their sales

Get your facts right. It's Warner who is the one who is muting every thing. They hate YouTube for some reason. And Roadrunner was recently bought by Warner.
Imo, i think they are shooting them selfs on the foot. Take Dream Theater for example, they have removed DT videos from DTs official channel ^.-.
Long post i know. This is new and it's because YouTube has to pay alot of money to make small people like us to share music like this. But what the hell, I hope Warner rots in a sewers. :)

i love the bit where it goes:

@BdonYoo People pay for things they appreciate; all they need are direct comfortable ways to do so, and these ways are working, but ain't used by mainstream labels. They prefer to sue your ass off, instead of try arranging with the fact, that their material is EVERYWHERE by simply offering a donation opportunity like flattr. If you fear greedy bad mankind, why you don't just simply sell the 1st release itself ?
Creatives are in control of everything as long as their opus ain't released, yet.

@HispanicImpression Iagree that if you want your shit to sell and make money, people need to know what you have to offer. But lots of people will exploit that by only gettingtheir music from youtube instead of paying for it. AndIdontKnowAnyStatsAboutMovie

@BdonYoo If the equation 1 download = lost sale is true, then how come that Monthy Python is sold like it's a gold nugget since it's freely available on the i-net,and that because the label wanted it like this?(for more info google "Free Monty Python Videos on Youtube Lead to 23,000% DVD Sale Increase")
For increasing income, you need as much people, who are aware of your opus, as possible. And you need selling models, which go hand in hand with maximal availability, like flattr or sellyourrights.

@HispanicImpression Okay, well either way you cant blame the recordlabels for removing the audio. It only makes sense that they would. The more people listen to free music on youtube, the less music they go out and buy. This means both the bands and the recordlabels will make less money. Now Im not sayin that Ipay for every album that Ihave, because thats not true,Idownload lots of my music. But if the record labels had the power to remove every single torrent in the world im sure they would do that too
-
@BdonYoo No, regularly it's not the band, but simply the label policy causing blocked videos; they are the one's with copyrights, not the original creators; the creators sold their copy right to the label. They don't have the right to block videos after 1st release, because the sence of copyright originally is not blocking but sharing content. Copyright only guarrantees the possibility to earn money, and if this possibility ain't used, like artist's who don't use a flattr button, it's their fault

@HispanicImpression Alot of the time its the bands themselves that dont want their songs being posted on youtube, and they decide if it gets removed or not. And they have every right to do that. why would they want their music to be posted on youtube for free, they're not going to make any money that way. Its shitty that the audio got removed cause this song is dope, but I dont think "Boycotting the music industry" is the solution.

If this song was muted, why is the video even still on here?

We love music! We can't stand by silently while the music industry continues its decades-long effort to lock up our culture! If you think that it sucks that audio had to be disabled here BOYCOTT MUSIC INDUSTRY!
- Only buy audio-cds second-hand from now on (Use amazon's second-hand section or ebay from apparently private persons)
- Don't download from online music stores anymore
- Support self-marketing bands
- Spread this message here on every muted video you encounter

While that's a nice rant, make sure you continue to support the bands you love through merchandise and going to any concerts that come your way.
