The White Spring building. Glastonbury, England.

An old reservoir built in the 19th century, but standing on an ancient site, with the entrance to a cave system under the Tor noted.

While the reservoir was being built, the remains of ancient buildings were discovered, but of course, they were destroyed. What were these buildings, and what was their purpose? Who can tell, but it maybe that they shall be found yet again. Speculation that they marked the original place where Joseph of Arimathea first settled, before relocating to the present site of Glastonbury abbey, continue, or that they were the remains of medieval monks' cells. The Chalice Well is opposite this place too, so an abundance of water is noted.

The use of the reservoir has varied since it was privately purchased: first a Cafe, then as the first pictures here show, a temple or shrine.
People are reported to have seen Orbs, and of course, I include some mysterious images that I took myself, which are shown in this video: an Orb, and pics taken on February 3rd 2009, which look pretty strange, a sort of "Creature" with a long neck, which rose to the ceiling of the building a few seconds after I took the second pic. I have no idea what it was but have had some explanations!
The timeline was merely seconds; but the camera doesn't time-stamp seconds, only minutes. I have added annotations to explain the images. The pictures have appeared in two British newspapers.
Needless to say that the images of the "creature" were shown to the people shown hugging in the first image, immediately after shooting and still reside on my camera's memory card to confound allegations of them being false or fixed by computer editing.

Some of the images shown here show paintings which are about fertility, and bits of the male & female anatomy which may not be allowed by the politically correct YouTube; these have been treated to cover those parts which may offend.
The White Spring has undergone some transformation, so the first images are as it was months ago, and latterly how it looks now, rather bare, but undergoing further transformation right now. The excellent painting of Bridget has once again, disappeared from sight, as have all the other pictures bar one.
The Red and White Springs both meet here; it maybe that "things" seen are the result of electro-magnetic energy created by the flow of those springs: that they are electrical manifestations; I leave that to others more qualified to pronounce on.
Note: The Apparition pics were shown to the people in the images, seconds after shooting; there is no possibility that that they are caused by any of the candles to the botton-left of the images. I would have seen smoke myself, and smelt it. The second image would seem to confirm what I have writen, viz: that they are genuine.

See other videos of "Ghost hunts" conducted here: Ross Hemsworth's in particular.

SOUNDTRACK: "SECONDHAND"

A great band from the early 70s, and I use "Cyclops" as a soundtrack, which I thought suited this video of pictures.
Later the band split and the two remaining members , Kieran O'Connor (RIP) and Ken Elliott, went on to form the band: Seventh Wave, and you can hear one of the band's tracks on the "Spectre on the Tor" video: that particular track is from the great album "Things to come" (1974)
Many thanks to Ken and his sister Fran for the use of the fantastic music used here.
I hope to see a re-release of these two albums, and "Psi-Fi", another great experiment in Synthesizer techniques by Seventh Wave.

The track "Cyclops" used in this video, is from the cult album: "Death maybe your Santa Claus" P. 1971

  • Why does a simple sexual activity must be made in a boring damn ritual place such as this one? -.-

  • @titodelibero

I don't l know is the simple answer. However, I have to point out that the notes are written by me and maybe disagreed with. Most of the images (paintings etc) are no longer in the building. The only painting still seen is that of the Goddess Bridie, or St. Bride as known later; an excellent painting and I'm glad it's still in the White Spring, though her flames have been drenched by water ;)

  • Nice images Mike, never been to the white spring but will go next visit, what happened to the peace candle? It should be replaced and kept alight. I will bring one to light when I am there, this is a great sadness we need as much light and peace as we can get. Lets return the candle of peace xx Maybe your spectre was looking for it?

  • @theglastonburygirl

There are very few paintings or anything else left in the place now. Plenty of candles but not the one shown, I haven't a clue why not excepting that there is a new layout and new management policy at the White Spring.

Thanks for the note. Visit soon!.

  • it hasn't half changed now! it was dark enough when it was a cafe: when I was there for Ostara this year I found it had been revamped, or "unvamped" It's now several pools of free-flowing water, and the noise is incredible. sadly as I'm not too mobile, I was more concerned with making sure that I didn't slip on the soaking floor than with soaking up any atmosphere

  • @franl155

It certainly has changed, and I remember it as a Cafe too, (with all the dope-dealing as well :)

The new pools look good as you wrote, but have increased the noise levels. I don't really know what the pools' purpose is, other than decoration. Probably used in rituals which I have yet to observe. the lighting is bad, and combined with the wet floor, it makes for an accident waiting to happen.

    thanks for the note.

    Mike.

I liked the placve as it was before.

  • Mike,

Very interesting and rather erie. What are the "explanations"?

    ....Robert

  • Crikey, that's a surprise, i'm assuming you didn't see anything when you took the photograph? I guess you've ruled out the usual stuff like cigarette smoke/incense etc.

The White Spring has certainly changed since i was in there last, about nine years ago. A friend of mine lives in Glastonbury, i'll ask her if she's seen anything in there over the years.

  • @mikesey1 me too! Aparently one can get into the pools for rituals etc [but tell and attendant first!] but the water was cold enough on the floor and as spray in the air - anyone immersing themselves would need to watch out for polar bears!. I suppose it's more "natural" now than as a cafe or a pumping station, but, boy, the noise! Hardly seems conducive to a relaxed, serene frame of mind

  • @episiloneridani

Luckily, I took these pictures before the "new regime" came into being!

I agree with you, it is silly to stop people taking pictures here, and can lead to unwarranted accusations of something "sinister" taking place. I was told that a photographers' day was going to be held, where budding snappers like you and I were going to be allowed to use cameras, so far it hasn't happened.

Health & Safety at the local council can take action about the dangers posed walking here.

  • So you didn't get told off for taking pictures then. I was visiting the other day and got told I wasn't allowed to take pictures. I wasn't even using a flash. Too much water on the floor as well and very dark. If someone slips who would be liable.

  • Hi there. Nope there was no smoke in the building. I saw some vapour or something like steam though. It was shapeless, but using flash apparentley showed its form. People criticise the use of flash, but I am told that some of its light spectrum is in the UV ; that maybe why so many pics show things formless in the physical, but visible in photos.
