J. Frank Dobie: A Liberated Mind is the first biography of Dobie in 30 years and offers a fresh, lively look at the famed Texas folklorist and raconteur. Author Steven L. Davis narrates this introduction to Dobie. Larry McMurtry praises this book as "A crisp, reliable, and thorough biography...Steve Davis gives us a much richer understanding of Dobie then we have had previously. A fine effort." • Steve Davis J Frank Dobie is a must read. Insightful, compelling, and an exemplar for any one interested in exploring literary biography or Texana studies. Not mention, Steve is one of the funniest cats writing in Texas today.

  • I enjoyed the book and found Dobie's intellectual journey compelling.

  • I want to thank you for writing this book. A very fine effort and a joy to finally understand the context and substance of J. Frank Dobie. I graduated from UT in 1986 and like most UT students saw his name and his likeness. This past year I've read The Longhorns and The Mustangs and now I understand the man and appreciate his work even more.

  • Good Job!!

  • great job steve!
