Originally meant to be the pilot for a hopeful new TV series, meant to follow the adventures of a family of aliens trapped on Earth, and the two Earthlings they live with. This pilot opens with a boy and his grandfather struggling to keep their hotel in business. When a UFO passes over the town and crashes nearby, the pair decide to stay home while the rest of the townspeople go investigate. Shortly afterwords, an alien family staggers out of the woods asking for protection from both the mob of civilians and the government agents searching for them. Granddad and grandson agree, disguising the aliens as humans and teaching them how to blend in on Earth.
To the person who said he heard this was released on VHS in Canada, you are correct. I own it. I was planning on doing a Youtube review of the movie over the next few days, and was seeing if there was a trailer or anything available here. I'll film a copy of the VHS tape as well.

Actually I was at the theatre (theatre theatre, not the cinema) and I saw a poster for a production called "Earthbound". I was disappointed when I found out it wasn't THAT Earthboud.

Thank you for uploading this. I must have seen it when it aired on NBC in '82, because I remember the "holding your breath to turn invisible" thing, and particularly the scene shown briefly at 3:04. It's been bugging me for decades, wondering what this movie was. Now I know. :D

However, the release was canceled when the game was deemed unprofitable (the Super NES had already been released, and NOA didn't think gamers would pay attention to a new NES game). In 1998, a prototype cartridge surfaced, and the ROM file was made available (illegally) on the Internet. This version is referred to by fans as "Earthbound Zero," a reference to its sequel ('Mazâ 2: Gîgu no gyakushû (1994) (VG)') being released in the United States as "Earthbound."

There has been a few movies named Earthbound actually, as far back as 1920, 1940, 1981, 1989. they all weren't about aliens though. the VG came out in 1989 in Japan called Mother. Nintendo of America had planned to release this game in 1991 under the title "Earth Bound."
