  • I'm not sure that the classical definition regarding whether or not a regulatory state has to be heritable is as contentious as this video is stating. Science published an article called "What is epigenetics" in 2010 that outright states that the change must be heritable. A publication in 2009 seeking to create an operational definition for epigenetics also clearly states that the changes must be heritable. The heritability is cell to cell or organism to organism.
