Spotting from "The Beach" carpark at Sydney YSSY

On The Grand Parade crossing Bay Street abeam the Novotel, I spotted the SQ A380 taxying down Alpha, With a Cam corder in the glovebox I leaned over and hoped I would get there in time. I just did! Once I got there I took a few more takeoffs and landings and this is the video. Missing from this video is one takeoff BA 777 which was between the A380 takeoff and the S340b landing, and also the Thai 777 between the JQ A330 landing and the VS A340 takeoff. cut mostly to fit timing for the music

Actually that's a public beach's carpark and was taken inside my car (as you can see on the first post :P )

As long as it's not on property, it's fine. in fact Sydney has a designated spotting area near the terminals. Spotters can also be found in droves at "the hill" which is just a few metres from the control tower. Police sometimes patrol the area but never come over to the spotters as long as they remain clear of fences/gates etc.

usually not the trumpet :P but yes occasionally with friends. Sometimes with the big spotting group. Google "YSSY Forum" and see.

My question is...when you go "spotting:" do you take your trumpet and play to pass the time and do other friends go with you? Always look forward to your posts because you never know what you'll see.....and hear. aokiwan.

Nice video. You're fortunate you can get that close to film planes period. This kind of thing is frowned on in the States and I dare say there are few places you could pursue an activity such as this without being taken away in shackles. At any rate...I have a question I have been meaning to ask you for some time but hesitated as I felt it might infringe upon your privacy. If so..ignore the post or feel free to delete the post.
