Cindy Sheehan spoke to a large crowd at the Mercury Cafe in Denver, Colorado. She is introduced by Green Party Presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney.

Both women have attended many events including anti-war protests during the DNC in 2008.

One of the main topics covered by Cindy is how Cynthia and Rosa Clemente are not only running for the President and Vice-President, but more importantly, building a movement that will last beyond this election in 2008.

We are all at different levels of our struggle, but by helping each other along our paths, we will get to where we need to be. However, only through unity will we ever achieve this.

Can you imagine a day when three sisters, a black sister, a Latina sister, and a white sister will all unite to fight against racism, sexism, classism? Imagine no more, Cindy Sheehan, Cynthia McKinney, and Rosa Clemente are together to fight for us.

  • I think there are many problems with the Democratic party, but Ms. Sheehan's comments regarding the racial composition of the delegates are off target. The 2000 census indicates that whites are 69.1% of the population. Many segments of our population may be under-represented by the census-takers' methodology, but this is the best information we have. The fact is, the Democratic National Convention had about the same proportion of white delegates as the U.S. has in its general population.

  • After doing some research, whites are actually 56.7% of the Democratic delegates which would make them underrepresented. The 2008 census estimate for whites is 66%.

What I could not find is the income level of the delegates, and this is what is important. I would bet that most if not all the delegates were upper middle class or the capitalist class which is the top 1% of the income level. As is in our society, roughly 50-75% of our society is not represented politically.

  • LOOK SHE IS MISSING THE ISSUE,,,,the bankers run America not the President or senate/congress. If we dont wake up we will all be dead,,,watchlists will include christians, ex military, muslims, libertarians, gun owners, annd anyne who takes a stand regarding their rights. so wake up ,,WE ALL BETTER BAN TOGETHER WHITE BLACK GREEN BLUE I DONT CARE WHAT COLOR. As Americans we better get organized and start making moves before we are all verichipped and worshipping a FACIST DICTATOR.

  • Actually, I may have to eat some of my words given what Ron did yesterday and over the last few months. As well as given what Kucinich did 2 weeks ago in Minnesota, basically the opposite. For the rest of this week at least, Paul's one step ahead of the left of the democratic party since he basically went as far as possible in combatting the interests in his own party w/o leaving it. His invitation to 4 other candidates in his press conference including the recalcitrant Barr speaks volumes!

  • I love her, and everything she stands for, but I am tired of disillusionment..... there are only just a good few people when it comes down to it. People rather remain dysfunctional, limited, cowardly to keep their illusionary sense of security...then to take the risk to step out of their (so- called) comfort zones.

  • so the Greens now have the street gang vote...

  • pretty much when I say nihilism. It's basically hopelessness, but in more of a sense that it actually keeps you from doing something. It's very damaging to society. I mean it can be as mild as someone going apathetic in current events because they realize there is not much they can do. To the extreme of just not caring about your life, your condition, and that of your family's. There are things you can do to change those things for the better but if you're a nihilist. Well you don't see an exit.

  • I have to agree with the others on it. It isn't possible. The two parties are too large with too many influencial people. The ones in need of change won't be getting it soon because the status quo is benefiting right now, and I think people are waking up to it. But once everyone realizes this. Hopefully we take action instead of stop caring. The Black community in America realized this centuries ago sooooo as you can tell most of us are over taken by nihilism.
