If I'm not wrong, Schrödinger's Cat was made to disprove the Born Rule, a part of the Copenhagen Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics. Basically it (the Born Rule) said that "the cat" (or whatever problem that has a set outcome) has only one outcome, and it cannot be changed. The cat experiment changed this by saying that it does not have only one outcome, but has both outcomes until we force nature to show one outcome. Physics. Silly stuff. Just ask if you're still confused :)

you're right, the cat either lives or dies.

but reality is based on our observation; the outcome of the experiment is uncertain until we observe the result. the cat has become a factor of the experiment too, so it's perspective is "entangled" with the outcome. in the end, it's our observation of what happened that categorizes the cat's fate.

Schrodinger’s Cat as a group of atom collapses’ its own wave function forming a future relative to the energy and momentum of its own actions.
