http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2011/01/cedar_cliff_special-needs_... Mike Chabanik posed a simple question to the West Shore School Board on Jan. 20, 2010. "Why can't Cedar Cliff High School give me the tools I need to become a successful learner?" he asked. Chabanik, a junior who is autistic and legally blind, stood proud and poised at the podium as he pleaded his case and the cause of other special-needs students in the district. "Despite these disabilities, I am a hard-working student," he said. He told the school board he needs text-to-speech software so he can listen to his assignments, a large computer screen, tape-recorded classroom discussions, copies of classroom notes and an aide to tell him what is going on when his class plays a movie he he has trouble seeing.
