  • The guy at the end answered his own question. How DID Joan of Arc, Mdme Curie, Mdme C.J. Walker, Queen Victoria, etc. manage to contribute to the world long before feminism came about? They just did it.

  • Boys are usually naturally more physically active and they don't like to sit around in class all day. No wonder they get distracted easily in school. Boys like to compete. I've always prided myself on getting good grades due to my own efforts, rather than having to rely on my "study group" for my gades. Why can't we have the whole spread of teaching and learning methods available. Cooperative learning can complement traditional methods without having to replace them.

  • While I'm all for equal rights, and not an advocate of chivalry, I think feminist should take accountability for what they say and make up their minds carefully before saying something. Most of them except the smart ones are being unobjective and not doing enough to improve themselves.

  • it's time we protect our boys from the evil claws of feminists

  • @andrjsh It is almost impossible to run many standard experiments, the easiest thing to do is make logical comparisons and extrapolations.

Whilst many, if not most people have a clear gender identity 'I am a woman', for example, even 'I am womanly', the fact that gender expression is so utterly reliant on cultural standards implies that whilst most boys feel and act like boys the expression of being a 'boy' varies so much it seems more likely that obeying society is innate.

  • @andrjsh Except that what is masculine and feminine vary to incredible degrees among cultures, and things that are gender polarized in some cultures and practiced by and large by only those of the appropriate gender are practiced by almost everybody or almost nobody in cultures which only ascribe them being positive and negative traits.

The fact that scientific experiments generally require a 'control' , means that until it is possible to raise a group of children with no gender bias at all ---

  • @andrjsh Thank you for your comment. Note that I said "most people." Indeed there are variants. Children also imitate, but there are nonetheless inner drives; a sensitive child can act tough (or vice versa) although this will be unnatural to that child. MOST children act according to their genders (gender norms in this case reflecting what most do over a range of time and situations); not all fit the norm, but these are a minority.

  • liberal ideas are blamed for a great many severe problems in our society. What people don't understand is that this is not because of these new ideas in and of themselves. What causes these problems is the destruction of the old american conservative culture that gave us clear guidlines in life and made everyone agree. But that culture was corrupt. It was peace at the cost of repression. It had to go. We just need to establish a strong new culture to take its place.

  • @andrjsh

children immitate. in very young childhood it's just about all they do. Does it not destroy your theory if there is exists even one tomboy? There are millions, and I'd argue that there is not a single human being who was completely content with his/her role as a child. Even if there IS a biological basis for gender and most people fit gender roles, that does not justify the torture we're inflicting on the exceptions.

  • Sex roles are for the most people innate. Little boys and girls, left to their own devices, act in traditional ways--boys roughhouse and are loud and girls are chatty and sociable. Boys like action, guns, and sticks; girls like dresses, flowers, princesses, etc.
