Roads & Transport conditions in Lahore - Pakistan

Public Transport in Lahore has never been people friendly. Previously it was dominated by small wagons. The traveling conditions, especially for woman were extremely bad but they were in abundance and shuttled frequently. Then came the franchised city transport project, it is financially supported by the Punjab Govt. with the monopoly of route. The fair is very high etc. The transporters are not fulfilling their contractual obligations such as No. of vehicles on one route, conditions of the vehicles and No. of trips on one route etc. The Road conditions in Lahore are also not good and worse in southern parts. Although the Govt. is spending a lot to improve it but the gape between North and south (richer area) is on the increase.
Punjab Lok Sujag is an organization working for the social uplift of people of Punjab since 1984.

@ourpak1 Lahore is an industrialized city.There are many heavy industries here not like fertlizer or cement but their is paper,food processing,textiles,telecommun­ications,construction,informat­ion technology and some automobile manufacturing as well.In 2009 the GDP of karachi was 78billion dollars while lahore's was 40 billion dollars.In fact Lahore and Faisalabad are the most business friendly cities in pakistan according to world banks report of 2010

I am 4rm Karachi, surely its very beutiful. Mashallah. But i must tell u dat Lahore needs 2 b industrialized cuz Karachi alone cannot take whole Pakistan on its shoulder. Dont think iam 4rm Karachi or iam a Muhajir etc so iam saying this. Karachi & Lahore r like 2 brothers who hav 2 support whole family(Pakistan). former president Musharraf think this & started building a new city Gawadar so Pakistan cud get 1 more industrial city bt present stupid govt stoped it. Pak need 1 more industrial city
