um I believe it was a mutual decision, because Amerie was upset that the record company wasnt promoting "Becasue I Love It".

She wasn't dropped, it was her choice to leave Columbia Records in 2007. Her third album "Because I Love It" farred a lot better overseas in Europe and Asia. I loveeeeee Amerie to death!! Very slept on and underrated.

1. You're never going to sell as many records as the company wants. 2. Amerie is talented and wonderful in ways that the average person can't relate to. Kinda the same way that Tisha Campbell is talented or Mos Def is talented. It's not those artists it is those who don't have the mind to relate.
