  • Kelpies are such smart dogs and with such good natures.

  • Looks like a cross... Both the working and show kelpies have upright ears, not floppy.

  • i ♥ kelpies

  • Just like with australian cattle dogs, when you are teaching them tricks, they think they are the ones tricking you! =p

  • @NerdHunter87 Shows what you know. 20% of Kelpies are born with floppy ears. I have two kelpies. My red one has upright ears and my white one has floppy but they are littermates. Both are CKC registered since the AKC does not recognize this wonderful breed yet.

  • Also my Kelpie's name is "Hina" she has floppy ears and is one bloomin clever dog born from two full Kelpie parents with "pricked ears" she can gun any dog in the park with the obstacle courses her agility is deadly fast so i am lucky to even have a Kelpie with floppy ears i think there originally special.

  • In regards to 'floppy ears' Actually for your info Aussie Kelpies ancestors are a mix dog breed of different black collies with even possibilities of some dingo blood claimed the first ever generation of kelpie was a black and tan female pup with "floppy ears" in 1872 bought by Jack Gleeson from Casterton from a scottish bloke known as the Gleeson Kelpie every Kelpie from then on was bred from her line that is most logical answer to where 1 qtr of the kelpies get there floppy ears from!! :)

  • @NerdHunter87 who cares

  • Looks like she is a little too smart - she's anticapating the commands lol. I guess I'm going to be dealing with this myself soon!

  • Ja, Kelpies sind klug. Sie machen aber auch Kunststücke von ganz allein. Schaut euch mal die Videos von unserer Kelpie Hündin Chica an!!

  • Floppy ears isn't the reason I'm not going with Noonbarra. I know Noonbarra are great dogs, and I'd love to get one but they are very expensive.. Also, I am interstate and so would not be able to see the pup or the parents of the pup, and I think it's important to see them.

I don't mind whether mine has floppy or upright ears, it doesn't bother me at all.

  • Oh really? Cheers for the info I never knew that. I was going to buy my kelpie from Noonbarra, but not anymore, Anyway thanks!
