This video was shot with my trusty Sony HDR-SR10 during vacation in Seaside, Florida.

The Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias) is a large wading bird in the heron family Ardeidae, common near the shores of open water and in wetlands. The primary food for Great Blue Heron is small fish, though it is also known to opportunistically feed on a wide range of shrimps, crabs, aquatic insects, rodents, other small mammals, amphibians, reptiles, and small birds.] It is generally a solitary feeder. Individuals usually forage while standing in water, but will also feed in fields or drop from the air, or a perch, into water.

It feeds in shallow water or at the water's edge during both the night and the day, but especially around dawn and dusk. It uses its long legs to wade through shallow water, and spears with its long, sharp bill.

  • well you captured a wonderful wonderful video, the 2 most favorite things to me are great blue herons and the beach and , you have them both together.would love to have this played at my funeral.

  • Lovely bird.

    Nice video.

Nice music - Camille Saint-Saëns, Le Carnaval des Animaux: Le Cygne (Carnival of the Animals: The Swan).

You did not have just a few more moments of waves to fill in an opening and end to complete the musical piece?
