When I heard about this train coming to the St. Louis area I just knew I had to catch it. When I traced the train the first time it said it will arrive in the A&S midnight or later. But when I traced it around 4pm it said it arrive Jefferson City, MO at 4:27pm. I was like holy cow this train must be bookin it across the state. So between 7pm and 7:05pm arrive in Kirkwood, MO and when I got there I see mixed freight going eastbound across Kirkwood Road. I'm saying to myself this has to be the QNPINP. When I arrived at the Amtrak Station the freight train was still going by. I saw two friends of mine at the station that I knew. I asked one of the "what was the power on the mixed freight"? He said "The Rio Grande Heritage Unit". When he told me that, I was shocked because I came all the way out there to see that unit and I missed it by thirty seconds. My friend said he would go take me to downtown St. Louis to catch up with this train. While we're driving on I-44 going east we see the train highballin by Hampton Ave. Soon as we get over there by Grand we see a BNSF manifest heading to the Lindenwood yard. The MKCAS-25 had to wait for the BNSF train to clear the interlocker. We did get ahead of the UP 1989 thanks to the BNSF train going across the interlocker first. After the BNSF train cleared the interlocker it was UP 1989 to go across it next. I was happy to catch this train. I want to think my friend for taking me to see this train. This is the 2nd time this engine has ever been to the St. Louis area.
