Yves Saint Laurent Summer 2007 Collection

Paris, 05 October 2006 -- At the crowded Grand Palais there is an atmosphere of intense excitement for Stefano Pilati's next collection for the house of Yves Saint Laurent. The models appear on a podium of flowers, and Stefano Pilati encrusts his savoir faire in the illustrious fashion house and interprets in his own manner the 'sarouel,' the camouflage jacket and the tuxedo. From a sophisticated look at the start, a woollen raincoat decorated in big black and white squares, we move to a more summary and modern allure of light, floral, chiffon dresses.

St. Laurent appreciated many women, from notable to the unknown. In his retirement speach, he thanked all the women who supported him. While I agree there are perhaps more poignant comentators than Ms. Becham, it's not fair to say the Rothschild and Getty families are his 'real supporters'. I think everything Mr. Pilati does is fantastic, and he is prooving to be the next YSL. When he speaks about women, I feel there is still hope in the world.

What an ugly collection in every sense of the word ! The designer of these trashy clothes does not have the least bit idea of who the legendary YSL is. And the women who commented have dubious beginnigs ! These women are definitely not from the Rothshild and Getty family, the real YSL supporters !

After a century, it seems like the Grand Palais is hip again. The JuliB site had a great write up of the 'Mini Palais' restaurant there, Anselm Keifer had an amazing instillation there this past summer, and apparently they have some pretty hip fashion shows happen there as well. C'est magnifique!
