This song is a remastered release of a 1982 indie single by Brisbane's Solid Citizens' with the original line up of Mick Walker vocals, Glen Muirhead keys, John Barnes drums, Scott Williams bass and Len Henderson guitar. Peter Blyton produced, recorded and mixed the track which was recorded live in the studio. The song was strongly supported by 2JJJ and FM104 and was JJJ's Tom Zelenka's Song of the Year in 1982. Unfortunately the band had broken up by the time the record was released, and the artwork could be interpreted as being ironic. However the success of the song led to deals with MCA Music and RCA Records for Mick Walker and Glen Muirhead who stayed together and continued writing. A request from a youtube visitor whose JJJ cassette recording had given up the ghost prompted Solid Citizens to have the song digitised and remastered (thanks Rocco!). This youtube audio doesn't quite reflect the quality available on iTunes and a CD mastered quality version is available for preview on the new site www.solidcitizens.com.au.

  • "However the success of the song led to deals with MCA Music and RCA Records for Mick Walker and Glen Muirhead who stayed together and continued writing." True, but even though the band had broken up, the remaining members Walker/Muirhead released "Singing In The Shower" in 1984 under the SC moniker. So they seemed to not have fully broken up ;-)

  • Excellent song - I love the piano playing, it sounds a lot like Sparks who are one of my favourite bands of all time. Which record company released the original version, and can you put it up onto YouTube sometime?

  • They haven't lost it.
